While working a secular job in the mid-90s, I was asked by my supervisor if this was what I saw myself doing until retirement or was there something else that I had in mind? My answer was that I felt the Lord calling me into the ministry. I answered God's call and over the next 20 years (from 1996 until 2017), I was blessed to serve as a minister of youth and children at several different churches. Many years ago, while having lunch with my daughter at her elementary school, I was asked if I would accompany her and her classmates to the playground. A lasting impression was made that day as I stood in the middle of all those children being bombarded with questions. Before I could answer a single question, another, then another was asked. What an experience! Young minds are very inquisitive. Because of this I have been involved with children’s worship services, Good News Clubs, AWANA, and youth Bible studies while also participating in local mission projects, and children’s camps as well as mission trips and camps for middle and high school students (aptly named ‘adventures’ by a student). In October 2021, after taking some time away from full-time ministry, God once again called me back and has allowed me to serve as Pastor to the Children and Students of Pleasant Hill. If you and your family are searching for a place to worship and serve, the invitation is open to join us as part of a wonderful congregation. You will be loved and accepted and made to feel at home. My wife, Deanna, and I have been married for 34 years. We have two children, Hillary (husband, Bryce) and Zach (wife, Eliza).
One of my favorite passages from Scripture is from ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:17-18‬, “If the God we serve exists, then He can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and He can rescue us from the power of you, the king. But even if He does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.” (HCSB)‬‬

I have always felt that God has given me the gift of service. I feel most comfortable when I am helping others. In the past, I have worked in healthcare which allowed me to fulfill that calling of serving others. Since having my two wonderful children, Savannah and Garland, I have been blessed to be able to stay home with them and devote my time fully to them while my husband, Alex, worked to pay the bills. I was excited, however, when the opportunity opened up to be able to serve as Administrative Assistant at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. I look forward to being able to assist the church in this manner. My mother was a church secretary throughout most of my whole life and I have grown up helping her in many churches. I never knew then that God was working to equip me to do the same. I am excited and encouraged to be a part of the staff at a Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
