Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

Dr. Jack R. Hodges, Jr. was called to be the Senior Pastor on April 30, 2017. Jack has served in the ministry for 42 years. Before coming to Pleasant Hill, he previously served for 18 years at Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Granite Falls, NC as Minister of Pastoral Counseling and Restoration and previously as Singles Minister. Prior to that, Jack and his wife, Shawn, served as missionaries with the International Mission Board for nearly 15 years in the Gaza Strip and in Nazareth, Israel, where they served as Church Developers and had the pleasure of planting a church in Nazareth, Israel. Dr. Hodges earned his Doctorate of Ministry degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Appalachian State University. Jack and Shawn have been married for 47 years and have three married children, Daniel, Joshua, and Lydia and fourteen grandchildren. Jack loves App State football and enjoys music, skiing, scuba diving, and traveling.

Johnny Hicks serves as part-time Worship Leader for Pleasant Hill. Johnny is married to Lynne and they have two boys, Kelby and Kaleb.

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Michelle Hallman has been hired as our Children's Ministry Director. She will serve as a part-time staff member in this capacity. We are so excited as God uses Michelle to lead our children to know Christ and be discipled.

I have always felt that God has given me the gift of service. I feel most comfortable when I am helping others. In the past, I have worked in healthcare which allowed me to fulfill that calling of serving others. Since having my two wonderful children, Savannah and Garland, I have been blessed to be able to stay home with them and devote my time fully to them while my husband, Alex, worked to pay the bills. I was excited, however, when the opportunity opened up to be able to serve as Administrative Assistant at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. I look forward to being able to assist the church in this manner. My mother was a church secretary throughout most of my whole life and I have grown up helping her in many churches. I never knew then that God was working to equip me to do the same. I am excited and encouraged to be a part of the staff at a Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
